Cover Croppin’

This is the future Corn field.
To prepare the soil, we are planting a cover crop of red clover and rye.
Planting a cover crop is very serious business. There is absolutely no smiling allowed.

It is absolutely no fun at all.

You must scatter the seeds,

And you do not throw seeds at each other.
Because that’s just silly.

Then you wait for the rain to fall. And up come the sprouts!

I’ve been told by very good farmers and gardeners alike, that seeds just WANT to grow.
This was not true of my radishes. But it is much more true of this cover crop!
Happy Autumn!

Looks good, Amanda! We’re about to seed 2.5 acres with a cover crop and gathering opinions on what to plant. Exciting business, as you point out well : )
