‘Twas my birthday yesterday and Earth day. I do not remember Earth Day always being as big a deal. I remember picking up litter on the school playground but I don’t remember doing that on my birthday. It seems lately that Earth Day is becoming more fashionable. Why is that? Are we more aware of her aging?

Anyhow, I turned 27 years old. Usually I have a little moment with myself to reflect on if I’m where I thought I’d be at 27. I am not. So I did not spend ample time thinking about it. Instead I went to the past.

I remember when I was 7 or 8, I went to the swimming pool for my birthday and invited 2 or 3 boys. That was a big deal since boys still hadn’t grown out of their cooties yet.

I had one birthday living up in Ukee that I remember my friend driving all the way up and sneaking into my house on my birthday to surprise me. Thanks Holly! You made my day!

The first birthday that Marc and I were dating, he sent his friends on a scavenger hunt to find me rainbow toe socks everywhere in Victoria. Toe socks were not in fashion then and no store had them. But I knew how many people he employed to find these toe socks when I wore them the first time and his friends were like “Hey Manda, nice socks! So glad he found ‘em!” Yeah me and my quirky taste. What a patient man.

This year, we had no money. So guess what my man did? He built me a garden box for my gear.

He painted every side with a different scene. The one you can see in this picture is of the bee hive with the honey bees flying all around. How lucky am I? So I’m hoping he’ll endow the cottage with all his creativity.

Also, I had a wonderful visitor to help me out with the garden on my birthday. And she worked very hard. I’m quite the slave driver.

Thank you Danielle. Man, I hit the jackpot by marrying into this family! Not only do I get a fabulous man, but also his fabulous sister.

Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for wishing me happy birthday and making my day beautiful. -Theresa, I loved the cheesecake!-

Love, Amanda as a Bee xoxo
