grateful

With New Years fast approaching, I try to take time to look at where I am in life. Where I am going. And where I have been.
Six months ago we moved to this little farm in our tiny cottage. We are caretaking 160 acres and every day we remember to be grateful for this opportunity!

This barn is empty now but it is full of potential. We are excited to see what the future holds this year for animals. In the past year I have:
-Planted my first veggie garden
-Experimented making cheese
-Made pot fulls of homemade pasta
-Multiplied my beehives
-Learned to knit and sew (though I am confessing no compency there)
-Harvested my very own tomatoes, potatoes, beans, peas, rhubarb, carrots, etc.
In the next year I hope to continue multiplying my beehives, take a hand at raising chickens, plant another (more expanded) veggie garden, and become better at living a smaller life with a positive impact on the world around me.
What about you? Do you have any New Years goals that you are stretching to?

This is where the chicken coop is planned to appear… Stay tuned.

Oh I am excited for you and the upcoming year! I would just adore to live on that big of a piece of property…my goals for the year are to simplify my life, get rid of the clutter and the unused.
Great post…love the barn. My camel would love it too! Kim

That first picture is so quaint. Glad that you’re liking where you are in life these days. Happy New Year to you both.

I also feel a great deal of gratitude these days…especially as I enter my 3rd quarter of life: 50 next month. I start my first ever university degree on Monday. My goal is to help…whomever, whatever, whenever…and this will allow me to do that in a different way than I’ve done before. My garden is intrinsic. I know the fruit will prove interesting but for now, as I stretch out of my familiar soil into a previously unknown world I am grateful to be alive and growing! Thanks for asking, sweet daughter!
